How Dog Places UK checks venues before adding them to the directory, and why policies should still be checked before travelling.
We check before we list
Dog Places UK is built around a simple rule: a venue should only be listed when a source supports the relevant dog-friendly claim.
For food and drink
We look for a venue, tourism organisation or other reliable source that explicitly says dogs are welcome. Where the source only allows dogs in a particular area, the listing should explain that limitation.
For accommodation
We look for an explicit pet-friendly or dog-friendly statement. A property being generally described as family-friendly is not enough on its own.
For dog parks
We prioritise the operator's own website or booking information and only include secure/enclosed facilities that can be verified.
Policies change
A verified listing is not a guarantee that today's policy is unchanged. Always check the venue before travelling, especially for seasonal restrictions, booking requirements and areas where dogs are permitted.
